Leyina Chen Productions Hosts Women’s Day Gala

Event Review by Sophia M. Papadopoulos

Every Woman

What’s a better way to celebrate the woman in your life than by treating her to a day filled with rejuvenating mini facials, glamorous makeovers, relaxing mini massages, a shopping spree from bay area vendors, live entertainment, and a fabulous fashion show exhibiting 10 of the bay area’s top designers? Nothing that I can think of.

To celebrate Women’s Day, Leyina Chen of Leyina Chen productions, hosted and produced a Women’s Day Brunch and Fashion Show that was held at the Decathlon Club in Santa Clara on Saturday, April 16, 2011.

Upon arriving, guests were treated to champagne as they were escorted to their table. The day officially began with a sumptuous breakfast buffet. After satisfying their palette, guests were treated to a fun and frilly fashion show along with live entertainment from local singer Vanessa Lovato, R&B/Soul/Hip Hop singer, Kenya, and singer and dancer JD Charisma.

Unique, fun, glamorous, and eclectic wardrobe creations that took the stage included designs by Gail Shrive, Sarah Liller, Anya Z, Kara Emily, Danielle Pettee—one of Helium’s personal favorites–RockChiq, and Skylier Blanchard.

After the fashion show, guests were welcome to meet the designers and purchase their modes. Guests could also accessorize their new threads by taking a stroll over to Complement Your Style, Zansus Purse, DeAxis Jewerly, Sasha Maks Vintage, LHC Couture, and Shoes by Emereen, whose one-of-a-kind accessories are surely to turn heads.

The best part of the Women’s Day Gala was that the proceeds benefited the Princess Project, a non-profit organization that provides free prom dresses and accessories to high school girls who cannot afford them.

The event and the cause it benefited were a true match because, not only were the female guests treated like princesses’ for a day, but the proceeds went to support deserving young women with the gift of feeling like a princess, while allotting them the opportunity to celebrate an important milestone in their lives; attending their high school prom.

A truly inspirational event filled with gratitude and appreciation for all women, the Women’s Day Gala was one not to be missed.
