Cheesecake, gelato, tiramisu, oh my! It was like being a kid-in-a-candy store—but for adults—when LavAzza Espression Café had its grand opening party on November 15, 2012, at Santana Row.
Invited guests had the sweet—pun intended—opportunity to try some of the chocolaty confections LavAzza has to offer.
Located next to the Yard House and across from Crate and Barrel, the first LavAzza Espression Café to open on the West Coast is the newest addition on the Row.
In the ambiance of a futuristic yet cozy Italian-style café, a rotation of waiters brought out delicacies that would satiate even the most intense sweet tooth, mine being one of them. From cheesecake to tiramisu and chocolate mousse, to specialty coffee concoctions and Italian gelato, this was truly an evening to indulge in the sweeter things in life.
Among the plethora of desserts, I had to try the heavenly Espresso Nocciolato, which is made with espresso, nutella—I’m in love—and whipped cream sprinkled with hazelnut pieces and cocoa powder.
Guests also had the pleasure of mixing-and-mingling with fellow friends and patrons, and were treated to live classical music.
John Sweeney, general manager of Restaurant Operations, welcomed guests, and expressed his enthusiasm of LavAzza being the newest addition of a high-end cafe eatery on the Row.
Besides chocolate-inspired desserts, LavAzza also offers food selections and appetizers. The puff pastry filled with a combination of blue cheese, feta cheese, provolone cheese and spinach—also known as Torta Salata (quiche)—was a treat for the palate—a must try. And the medley of mozzarella, cherry tomatoes, and prosciutto on a log of zucchini—Caprese—was a fun and tasty appetizer.
For patrons who cannot get enough of LavAzza, they can purchase a bag or two of Italy’s well-known and favorite coffee brew for in-home enjoyment.
But don’t take my word for it. The best way to experience all the delicacies that LavAzza has to offer is to visit it for yourself; and the sooner the better.
So whether you dream of chocolate, anticipate your next hit of caffeine, or prefer a zesty Italian-inspired appetizer, LavAzza is the place you want to be. Take it from a self-proclaimed chocoholic.
