Santana Row Fall Fashion in the Park 2011

09|19|2011

The finale of Santana Row’s three days of fashion ended with a glamorous bang as Santana Row’s Annual Fall Fashion Show took place on Saturday September 10, 2011.

As guests of the show arrived, they were welcomed and treated to tempting hors d’oeuvres and refreshments from participating Santana Row restaurants such as Thea Mediterranean Cuisine, Roux Louisiana Kitchen, and Amber India.

This year’s show benefited the Junior League of San Jose. As such, not only did guests enjoy a posh evening viewing the hottest new looks for the fall season, but a portion of their ticket purchase went towards helping a worthy cause. After all, giving back to the community is always in fashion.

Before the beginning of the show, special guest celebrity Seth Aaron, winner of Project Runway Season 7, took photos with fans and mix-and-mingle with the crowd. Second guest celebrity, designer Donald J. Pliner, was also a part of the fashion festivities as he presented his fall line.

The show started with Seth Aaron introducing some of his collection. He explained how most of his collection will be available at stores such as Target in the coming season. He also mentioned that many of his designs are and will continue to be made from recycled materials such as those used to make plastic water bottles. Fashion with a conscience…now that’s progress.

The official start of the show began with Donald J. Pliner’s collection. A staple in all Santana Row Fashion shows, Donald’s collection is always a crowd favorite. When the models finished strutting his designs down the runway, Donald made a special appearance on the runway. He waved to the audience while smiling a content smile.

Along with Donald J. Pliner’s collection, other favorites such as Anne Fontaine, Penelope Boutique, and Eli Thomas took to the runway, along with many more. New to this year’s fashion show line-up were designs by Spazio, Jest Jewels, Free People, Anubee Children’s Boutique, and Big Buddha. Onlookers ooed-and-awed as each new collection made its way down the white runway.

What, rather who stole the show this year, were some pint-sized models. The children modeling designs by Anubee Children’s Boutique were with no doubt the crowd’s favorite. The little girls were so cute in their outfits, they looked as if they were walking dolls, and the little boys were quite the charmers as they danced their way down the runway sporting their aviator shades and sophisticated grade-school threads. It only proves that no one is too young to be fashionable.

Some of the fashion trends for the fall season that caught my eye are: fabrics such as the ever classic suede and leather; faux fur trimmings; geek-chic ensembles; animal prints; metallic jewelry; floral prints; lace accents; thigh-length coats for women; glittery frocks; and tights and leggings.

After the show, guests were welcome to continue enjoying the evening at some of the after-parties and in-store shopping events held at Cole Haan, Donlad J. Pliner, Ted Baker London, Anne Fontaine, and St. Croix.

A true inauguration to the fall, attending Santana Row’s Fall Fashion Show was and is the perfect starter to a stylish season.
